An interesting design challenge, In La Jolla, CA
The Pacific Sotheby’s office in la Jolla posed an interesting design challenge; The city of La Jolla required a 15′ community gathering/retail use of the front part of the 6,000 square foot office space.
We discussed many options and finally decided to collaborate with the well-known Sotheby’s Auction house to showcase items that would engage and delight both visitors and residents of La Jolla village.
Custom made ‘blue willow’ glass was installed in all of the West facing office spaces to mimic the shades of blue you might see in the nearby Pacific Ocean. After sunset, the glass shimmered with a gorgeous glow created from the hidden LED light strip that was embedded around it.
Then items were added from Sotheby’s classic collection that would rotate seasonally- first to delight was the custom-designed train set from the 30’s and 40’s along with a classic Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.
You would never guess there were over 50 offices behind these walls buzzing with luxury real estate agents from looking at this creative gallery-gathering space!!
